Cosmique City Bled

From 4th March to 30th April 2005

Anne Deguelle, Susanna Fritscher, Karim Ghelloussi, Jan Kopp, Valérie Mréjen, Nathalie Roussel, Akio Suzuki and Carmela Uranga. The eight artists in residence during the summer of 2004 are reunited once more for an exhibition.

Through interventions, videos, displays and drawings, the artists present the internal voyage which led to the work. A way of questioning "the hidden side of the iceberg" of creation, this long process scattered with abandonments and experimentation, achieved through photo scouting, rushes and sketches.

The other journey which is also presented is the movement in space, the theme of the exploded studio, with as an emblem Ossip Zadkine himself, who, although he may have been a Russian sculptor, had based his studio and home in the heart of the Quercy region.

Anne Deguelle, the co-ordinator of the exhibition, expresses her opinion on this point: the studio, it's "the place where the artist resides permanently, the place where he questions the world, multi-channelled, off-centre and furtive… Here there's no common attitude acting as revelation but small, interstitial and furtive utopias.
